Dimitris Spouras

Dimitris a young clarinettist and conductor. 

He was born in Thessaloniki, Greece (1989), and started his musical studies at the Stavroupoli Conservatory in Thessaloniki in the Clarinet class of F. Terzis and additional specialisation in Harmony, counter-point and fuga in the classes of P. Bekiaridis and O. Solomonidou, respectively

In 2010 he graduated with high distinction as clarinettist, and in 2012 he obtained the clarinet Bachelor diploma from the Macedonia-Thessaloniki Conservatory.  At the Antwerp Royal Concervatory, Dimitris obtained in 2015 his Master diploma for Clarinet in the classes of Ivo Lybeert and Raymond Dils.

In December 2014, Dimitris was selected by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to attend the post-Master programme for Clarinet specialization in orchestra performance, and had Mr. Andrew Marriner (LSO Principal Clarinet) as main professor. He played (2015-2016) 1st Clarinet with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, and as 2nd Clarinet under the batons of Daniel Harding and Gianandrea Noseda. He also performed as 1st Clarinet in the John Adams Chamber Symphony under John Adams and with the Barbican Hall Orchestra under Takuo Yuasa and James Blair.

Previously his experience included playing First clarinet of the Symphony Orchestra of the Music school of Thessaloniki for 6 years, Second clarinet in the Youth State Orchestra of Thessaloniki and as a member of the Jeugd en Muziek orchestra in Antwerp, playing under conductors as S. Gordon, R. Long, K. Papazoglou and I. Venkov
